TYPES OF ACNE WE TREAT

Acne treatment for every stage and severity

ClearDerm treats acne across all stages, from mild breakouts to severe cystic acne and scarring risk. Every treatment plan is doctor-led, evidence-based and tailored to your skin.
Mild Acne

Mild Acne

Blackheads, whiteheads and small breakouts. Mild acne often responds well to early clinical intervention when properly assessed and managed early.
Moderate Acne

Moderate Acne

Inflamed spots, pustules and early nodules, often requiring a combination of treatments to reduce inflammation, control breakouts and prevent progression.
Hormonal Acne

Hormonal Acne

Cyclical breakouts typically along the jawline, chin and cheeks. Common in women in their 20s, 30s and 40s, hormonal acne is often linked to hormonal fluctuations and may not respond to standard antibiotic treatment alone.
Severe & Cystic Acne

Severe & Cystic Acne

Deeper, painful lesions with a real risk of permanent scarring. More intensive treatment may be appropriate where acne is severe, persistent or has not responded adequately to previous treatment.
Adult Acne

Adult Acne

Persistent or late-onset acne affecting adults. Adult acne is more common than many people realise, and early medical intervention can help prevent scarring and long-term skin damage.
Acne causing marks or scarring

Acne causing marks or scarring

Acne scars can persist long after active breakouts have cleared. We assess both active acne and existing scarring, with treatment designed to control breakouts and reduce the risk of further scarring.

Acne is a medical condition. It deserves medical treatment.

Evidence-Based Acne Treatment Tailored To Your Skin

We use evidence-based medical treatments tailored to your skin and the severity of your acne. All treatments are grounded in clinical guidelines. Our approach targets the underlying causes of acne, not just the visible breakouts. Your treatment will depend on your acne.

Topical Creams, Gels & Lotions

Including retinoids and antibacterial agents, topical treatments help unclog pores, reduce inflammation and prevent new breakouts. These treatments are often the foundation of effective acne management and are tailored to your skin type and treatment goals.

Oral Treatments

Used when acne is more widespread or not responding to topical treatment alone. Oral treatments can help reduce inflammation, control acne-causing bacteria and support long-term improvement in skin health.

Advanced Acne Treatments

For persistent or severe acne that hasn't responded to topical or oral treatment, your ClearDerm doctor may recommend a more advanced clinical treatment option. Treatment is delivered through a structured programme with monthly clinical review, ongoing care support, and full HPRA-compliant safety monitoring throughout treatment.

Maintenance & Long-Term Skin Health

Clear skin is only the beginning. Once your acne is under control, we'll help you maintain your results with a personalised long-term plan. This may include clinical-strength skin treatments, together with personalised skincare guidance to reduce breakouts, improve pigmentation, support acne scarring and promote healthy skin ageing.

Personalised Skincare Plan

Every patient receives skincare advice tailored to their skin concerns and treatment plan. While medical treatment remains the cornerstone of acne management, the right skincare can enhance results, strengthen the skin barrier, improve pigmentation and support long-term skin health.

If advanced acne treatment is recommended, you will be enrolled in our Advanced Acne Programme for ongoing clinical review and safety monitoring.

Yes. ClearDerm provides online acne care across the republic of Ireland. Your consultation and ongoing clinical reviews take place online, where appropriate.

Begin by booking an initial consultation. You'll have the opportunity to complete a medical questionnaire and upload photographs of your skin beforehand, if you wish. During your consultation, your acne, medical history and previous treatment will be reviewed and your treatment options discussed.

Your consultation includes a detailed review of your acne, previous treatments, medical history and treatment goals. Your doctor will discuss appropriate treatment options and answer any questions before recommending next steps.

Advanced treatment may be considered for patients with persistent, moderate to severe or treatment-resistant acne, particularly where acne is extensive, recurrent or causing scarring. Suitability is assessed individually during your consultation.

If you begin advanced acne treatment, you'll have regular clinical reviews to monitor your treatment response, side effects, wellbeing and safety. Your treatment can be adjusted where needed throughout your care.

Every patient's skin responds differently. The duration of care varies depending on your skin, your progress and your individual treatment goals. Your doctor will discuss an expected timeline during your consultation.

Not everyone requires advanced acne care to achieve clearer skin. If another approach is more suitable, your ClearDerm doctor will recommend a personalised care plan based on your clinical assessment.

Some patients require monitoring as part of their treatment. The tests required and when they are needed will depend on your individual treatment plan. You'll be advised of any required testing before treatment begins.

It includes ongoing clinical care throughout treatment, including monthly clinical reviews, treatment response and side effect monitoring, wellbeing and safety checks, and treatment adjustments where required. The initial consultation is €120. For patients who are suitable for advanced treatment and proceed with the Advanced Acne Programme, it is €99 per month. Any required testing and medication costs are separate and will be explained before treatment begins.
